My Chosen Genre

I created an emaze PowerPoint to show the genre I have chosen and the reasons behind this.
I chose the genre action. I feel like this would appeal to a mass audience and would be easier to create footage that would appeal to audience members.
As we wanted to create a lot of mystery, we decided that having some conventions of a thriller thing will be good to add too. #
Tinika and I decided that making an action/thriller film (a hybrid) would appeal to mass audience and allow for the most engaging and coherent trailer.

Filming Schedule 

This is our proposed filming schedule, it is a rough structure of what we want to achieve after each day of filming. By doing this it will make sure we have a clear time table table to follow, to make sure we are on task and completing our necessary shots- this will enable us to have enough time to complete the editing and it is also a guide for our actors so they are aware of what days we are filming and what they need to bring. It also prepares Tinika and I for the days we decide to film. This is due to the fact it helps us know what to direct and we will be more organised on those days

Plot Ideas

These are some ideas for the plot I am planning to do. Obviously, the genre is undecided at this moment in time. However, I am leaning towards an action film, which is under the title of detective film. I wanted to try and think of a variety of plots for different genres of film. This was to make sure I was sure I wanted to do an action genre in my film trailer. It was quite difficult creating different plots.


To establish what genre of film I am going to do, I am going to create a questionnaire to ask my target audience a variety of questions such as their favourite film genre. Hopefully, this will help me to appeal to a mass audience. 

Trailer - Merging Ideas

New Group - Merged Ideas

Tinika and I both had very similar ideas. We were both interested in looking at the theme of kidnapping. We decided this would be a perfect theme for our film trailer and merge our genres to make a hybrid. Tinika's genre was thriller and mine was action therefore, we combined the two. 

It would be about a 17 year old girl that gets kidnapped and is held captive. The trailer will include snippets of before she was kidnapped, the buildup and process of her being kidnapped and the affect is has on friends and family. 

We decided we would have other cast members playing a police officer that receives a call from the distraught friends and family. We decided after a discussion that it is quite difficult to create the character of the police officer without making the characters uniform look fake. We thought a solution for this could be to have a voice over of the police officer taking the distraught call. 

We also decided we would want a relatively small cast, around 5 characters. We didn't want too many characters as it may overwhelm and confuse the audience. 

We both didn't want to over complicate the plot because we wanted to intrigue the audience, not confuse them. 

The film would be of the classification 15. This is due to some graphic scenes and I believe it may help me target a mass audience as people of this age bracket are a lot more interested in films with this genre.

Designed Questionnaire for Ideal Film and Company Name

I designed two questionnaires to get the opinions of my peers on some names that I was planning on including in my film trailer for my coursework. I created a film titles and film production company names and listed them for people to choose their favourite. They were only allowed to pick one per questionnaire. Doing this, helps me understand the type of names would appeal to my target audience and peers. This allows me to understand further the sort of material would appeal to my target audience and how to appeal to a mass audience.

New Group

I have decided to combine my idea with Tinika Wynters-Smith, another girl in my class. We had very similar ideas. Both of us thought of action/thriller genre films and have decided to make a hybrid film trailer.

We also thought it would benefit us with the work load. That way we would be able to share the work load and depend on each other for specific tasks.

Brainstorming Names for My Action Film Trailer

I have found brainstorming for name for an action film trailer really difficult. I can't seem to find one which portrays what is actually in the film and is eye catching. I have come up with a few titles but none that I am sure of yet. I plan on asking people that are of my target audience what they think of what I have come up with and if they can think of anything better. If somebody can think of one better, I will complete another survey/questionnaire on action film trailer names. That way, I can get a unanimous decision.
