Trailer - Draft of My Main Idea

Draft of My Main Idea

I decided that my idea would be based on somebody going missing. I wanted to keep my story line quite basic. This was so the audience could understand what was going on quite quickly as that is the main concept of a film trailer. If they don't understand the film trailer, they won't want to go and see it in the box office.
The idea is there is a teenager gone missing and her friends and peers need to go and find her. Mysterious notes have been left in a few places leaving characters fearful for their missing friend. I may include a scene with a policeman/policewomen in it. I also would want something a little deeper in the story as well, like an affair or something to make the story a little deeper. I am unsure of a final idea at the moment, but an affair sounds like a good idea.

Because of this plot, I will need quite a few characters. The person to go missing will never be shown, maybe just pictures of them. I will need a police officer, a family member, a few friends. This may result in a cast of about 5? It depends how many roles I write into the script when I decide on my final plot.

Trailer - Brainstorming Film Production Company Names

Brainstorming Film Production Company Names

Down below I decided to brainstorm a few ideas for a film production company name. I wanted to make sure the name portrayed the genre of film I was planning on doing (action) and may hint towards the certificate of the film.
  • Insomnia Studios
  • Toxicity Entertainment
  • Hazardous Studios
  • Peril Entertainment
I will make a survey so my target audience can choose their favourite. This will be beneficial as I can target a mass audience and appeal to my audience more.

Trailer - What Makes it Effective?

What Makes an Effective Film Trailer?

A film trailer is probably the most crucial aspect in making a good film and securing a profit at the box office. It is quite tough in doing so because you have to make an engaging snippet of your film in a two-three minute time slot. It has to sell the product to the audience, but at the same time can't give too much of the film away. This is really tricky to do, but is key as it draws the audience in and leaves them asking questions which they want answered. It has to be extremely eye catching and make the audience want to spend their money. The term 'trailer' comes from there having originally been shown at the end of a feature film screening. That did not last very long because audience members tended to leave the theater after the film ended, but the name has stuck even though trailers are know shown at the beginning of a film.
They are now shown in a variety of places and not just the theatre. They are placed on DVDs and Blue-rays, they are also posted on YouTube, a website full of videos. This allows people to talk and share the video. They are also able to view it whenever they would like to. This benefits the films distribution budget as sharing on social media is free and quick way to target a mass audience.
Trailers are supposed to show a condensed version of the film itself to achieve maximum appeal for the audience. Since film making has become so competitive, a polished trailer is very successful in achieving a profit at the box office.

Trailer - Planning My Film Trailer

Planning My Film Trailer

The film trailer genre I have decided to do is action/thriller. I am basing it on the Taken films.
The film trailer is going to be based on somebody going missed and the people in his/her life trying to find them.
There will be scenes with police/investigators and family members.
I will need to make some props for the initial scene ideas that I have already had. If I was to do the policeman/investigator scene I would need a policeman badge.

A2 Group Planning

A2 Group Planning

After last time, working with Sophie and Josh, I have decided I am going to work independently. If I work independently, I don't have to rely on anybody else for any work and I can complete it to my standards, when I would like it complete and to the best of my ability. I am doing this because last year in my coursework I obtained and C grade, which I was not happy with considering the amount of time and effort I put into my blog. I was very disappointed in my coursework grade and do not want a reoccurring feeling in A2.

What issue will I have?

The only issue I may have is working independently requires a lot of work. However, I am willing to do this myself and have prepared for the work load. I believe it will actually benefit me if I work alone as I can work and film at my pace.

How will I overcome this issue?

I will have to be very organised and plan everything before I do it. I am also preparing myself for the work load before it properly starts. That way, I can manage my time and plan effectively.
